In her review of the first episode of Stags, Fiona Sturges writes in the Financial Times, “We’ve been here before with films such as Last Vegas, Very Bad Things, and The Hangover: rag-tag groups of friends lose their minds on pre-wedding benders and chaos ensues.” In Stags, we arrive somewhere in South America for the bachelor blowout of an Englishman named Stu (Nico Mirallegro). He’s accompanied by a band of friends who are united by a common goal—to party in excess. As multiple days of festivities subside, the ensemble is arrested on drug charges and are sent to an island prison. The comedy—and pandemonium—grows from there. Though Sturges wasn’t entirely enthralled with the show’s first episode, the appeal of Stags depends entirely on what you are looking for. If hyperactive pacing and the thrills of Netflix’s Sex Education (whose producers created Stags) are up your alley, then tune in. —Jack Sullivan
