Spread—as lavishly as beurre d’Echire on a fresh baguette—over southern Paris and the half-gritty, half-green Val de Marne, this year’s festival purveys such riches as Kris Davis’s Diatom Ribbons, Vijay Iyer’s Ritual Ensemble, Turkish psychedelia from Elektro Hafiz, the Paris-based Healing Orchestra of Paul Wacrenier, synesthetic duets from artist Heike Liss and guitarist Fred Frith, and tributes to Paul Robeson by bluesman Eric Bibb and filmmaker Gerald Horne. —E.E.
