These days, the ubiquity of social media has transformed weddings from a celebration of love to a curated online competition of who can brag about the extravagant venue they booked, designer dress they wore, and article feature they landed on Vogue Weddings. As a result, the tradition’s gravitas has dissipated. But as the wedding season approaches, a new series at the Paris Theater features films that capture the totality of marriage: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Over the next month, three acts chart the tension-filled moments leading up to “I do,” the chaotic joy of the actual ceremony, and relationships post-nuptials. Selections include the tender Pride and Prejudice, the chaotic Much Ado About Nothing, and the heart-wrenching Marriage Story. —Maggie Turner
