“The home should be the treasure chest of living,” said the French-Swiss modernist architect Le Corbusier, whose own Paris apartment opened to the public last year, after a two-year restoration. A new exhibition explores the relationships forged in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, an idyllic corner of southeastern France. Photographs trace Le Corbusier’s time at E-1027, a modernist villa the Irish architect Eileen Gray designed with her lover; Gray and Le Corbusier’s falling out over murals he painted on E-1027’s walls; and the nearby cabanon Le Corbusier designed and then summered in until his death in 1965. —J.V.
