In the English language, the bygone term nudiustertian refers to the recent past, or the day before yesterday. Rashid Johnson uses the term as the title for his first solo show in Asia, which explores longing and displacement. New works that are part of Johnson’s ongoing series—his “Bruise Paintings,” “Surrender Paintings” and “Seascape Paintings”—converge in the Hong Kong gallery. —Elena Clavarino
