PRISM Quartet and Arturo O'Farrill: Mending Wall

Mar 21–22, 2020
150 N Merion Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010, United States

Note to Robert Frost: The list of entities that don’t love a wall can now be expanded to include Afro-Cuban jazz master Arturo O’Farrill, whose piece in this “fully staged” concert is called Something to declare? (yeah, fuck your wall). His world premiere joins those of Martin Bresnick, George Lewis, and Juri Seo—all “exploring the meaning of walls in our world”—interpreted by this crack saxophone quartet, dauntless soprano Tony Arnold, and (in his own work) O’Farrill at the piano. (A performance at New York’s Roulette follows on March 23.) —E.E.
