Preston Singletary grew up in the Seattle area in the 1960s and 70s. Both his great-grandparents were full Tlingit, an Indigenous tribe of Alaska, and during those years they told him many stories of their youth. After high school, Singletary started work as a night watchman at the Glass Eye, a Seattle glass-blowing studio. The work captivated him and he soon joined the production team. Singletary has been working at Pilchuck Glass School since 1984, creating striking glass pieces accompanied by audios that touch on Tlingit history. This exhibition sees glass, audio, and video brought together to remember the past. —Elena Clavarino
