After a short, lauded, and totally sold-out run at the New York City Center, Parade is now on Broadway. First performed in 1998, the Tony-winning musical dramatizes the story of Leo Frank, a Jewish factory manager in Georgia. In 1913, Frank was accused and convicted of raping and murdering a teenage employee thanks, in part, to false testimony. (More than 100 years later, his innocence is largely accepted as a fact). The trial and subsequent appeals drew media attention and stirred up anti-Semitism. The stars of the City Center production—Ben Platt as Frank, Micaela Diamond as his wife—remain in their roles. —Jensen Davis
