In July, the Nigerian-born artist Oluwole Omofemi broke his own record. Soul Meditation II, his 2018 oil and acrylic of five sleeping women, sold at Christie’s for nearly seven times the auction house’s highest estimate. The millennial painter, who describes his work as “unapologetic,” now has a second solo exhibition on at Signature African Art (the venue for his first solo show). Focusing on women and fashion, Omofemi embraces African life and its beauty. More than 10 new works are on view. —J.D.
