Drawing support from installations, sculpture, painting, and mixed media—and presenting works from Old Masters like Lucas Cranach to contemporary masters such as Anselm Kiefer—ARoS curators offer a simple thesis: mythological narratives form the bone structure of society. The curators posit that ancient myths hold universal truths and have provided civilization with its moral framework. At a time when the very pillars of our world seem shaken with uncertainty, this exhibition tells stories of hope and faith, crises and revolution. —E.C.
