Mother Goose, Jonathan Harvey’s new play, is named for its main character, a woman who runs an animal sanctuary in an abandoned department store, helped by her husband, Vic. One day, a magical goose comes by and grants them fame and fortune, which, of course, disrupts their modest and wholesome life. Ian McKellen stars as Mother Goose, while comedian John Bishop plays Vic. They are joined onstage by many puppets. —Jensen Davis
