“As one and one make three,” the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto said to the Cameroonian artist Pascale Marthine Tayou, “I’m happy to be doing this exhibit with you.” Pistoletto is known for bringing opposite artistic approaches together to create a unified third expression, so a joint exhibition aligns with his philosophy of “creative duality.” Tayou focuses on questions of postcolonial culture and globalization. Here, Pistoletto embraces artistic exchange, Tayou explores cultural exchange. The conversations abound. —C.J.F.
