“The body never lies,” said Martha Graham. Truth is a tonic and it was Graham’s mantra. She built a modern dance style based on truthful bodies, powerfully pure. The company brings four programs to the Joyce Theater and they contain a number of Graham classics—Cave of the Heart, Embattled Garden—as well as new works. There are also old works refreshed with new choreography. In 2016, the rather difficult Dark Meadow (1946) was recalibrated into Dark Meadow Suite. Also on the program is Canticle for Innocent Comedians, with new material from Sonya Tayeh and others. —Laura Jacobs
