Marta Spagnoli draws daily and likes to start horizontally, she says, “placing and washing away color without having total control of the limits in setting out the image.” In this solo show, Spagnoli’s debut at Galleria Continua, her work on canvas and paper invokes the meteorological condition of the “whiteout”—mist, fog, and snow that dissolves and blankets both the landmarks and life forces beyond and beneath. The displacement is like that in dreams. —L.J.
