Over 20 years ago, the Connecticut-based sculptor Mark Mennin paid a visit to the renowned architect Philip Johnson in New Caanan, where the latter had constructed his Glass House. It sits just above Ponus Ridge Road, and has since been hailed as Johnson’s most important work. The pair met to discuss a sculpture project that Mennin would install in the garden. But Johnson died in 2005, and the project never went ahead. This summer, Mennin has finally used those original plans to create sculptures in granite, marble, and onyx. —Elena Clavarino
