Marguerite Humeau, age 37, has won attention for her mythical and momentous installations. She thinks of herself as an “Indiana Jones in Google times,” and has shown her work at the Palais de Tokyo, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the New Museum, in New York. As of this year, Humeau is exhibiting her largest project to date, which is also one of the largest pieces of land art ever completed by a woman. Orisons covers a 160-acre piece of unfarmable land in Colorado’s San Luis Valley. Abstract wind-activated sculptures, their shapes influenced by the land’s history and the cranes that fly over it, populate the deserted area. As she has in the past, Humeau resuscitates a forgotten world. —Elena Clavarino
