Australia’s National Gallery has not collected work by women at a pace commensurate with female achievement in art. In an initiative to eliminate this gender bias, the museum has started “Know My Name,” a program of exhibitions, events, commissions, creative collaborations, and partnerships that aims to pull female artists out of the shadows. The largest presentation of art by women assembled in the country to date, this exhibition shows work from the early 20th century to today. There’s also a new, all-inclusive art history of Australia. —E.C.
