Kiki Smith: River Light

July 15 – Nov 9, 2020
1 Museum Rd, New Windsor, NY 12553, United States

The kind of flags that have been flying in recent months, when not the stars and stripes, have been political statements, many of them meant to intimidate. How lovely to see flags that speak to the elements, particularly the ripple and flow of rivers. These flags are by Kiki Smith, who has drawn from printmaking and photography—not to mention her own walks along New York’s East River—to create their look of glinting light and liquidity. The flags will be arranged in a circle on Storm King’s Museum Hill. —L.J.
