“I really love the idea of double entendres, multiple meanings to things,” says the New York-based musician keiyA, discussing the themes on her debut album Forever, Ya Girl. A trained saxophonist and jazz musician, keiyA’s work has a free-flowing, improvisational quality. Think warm-toned synthesizers, cavernous searching vocals. She’ll be performing at Public Records as part of Carnegie Hall’s citywide Afrofuturism festival. —Sophie Kemp
