Located in Upstate New York, the Corning Museum of Glass holds more than 50,000 glass objects, some of them 3,500 years old. Its current exhibition, “Brilliant Color,” is devoted to the “chromatic revolution,” a term used to describe the array of new colors that came to the decorative and fine arts of the late–19th and early–20th centuries. Through various interactive functions, the show answers the question: How did these colors impact the global network of glass artists over time? The exhibition culminates in a “make your own glass project” that invites visitors—with the help of staff—to create their own decorative pendants by melting glass rods in a torch. —Hannah Gross
