Into Space: Björn Dahlem, Berta Fischer, Naum Gabo

Feb 1 – June 6, 2021
Argentinische Allee 30, 14163 Berlin, Germany

Humanity has long been drawn to the search for a higher power, whether it be found in outer space or the internal energies of faith. In this exhibition, the artists Björn Dahlem and Berta Fischer are brought together with Naum Gabo (1890–1977) to reflect on the convergence of art, science, and philosophy. Gabo, an avant-garde sculptor and theorist, used diaphanous plastics to probe the secrets of space. Dahlem, who has long studied particle and astrophysics, addresses issues of time and space. And Fisher works with acrylic glass, using the shimmering panes to choreograph light. She distorts our optics, imbuing the gallery space with an aura of the supernatural. —E.C.
