Indecent

Mar 13 – May 9, 2020
53 Southwark St, London SE1 1RU, UK

A play about a theatrical scandal becomes a theatrical smash: written by acclaimed American scribe Paula Vogel, Indecent explores the controversy around Sholem Asch’s drama God of Vengeance, which saw its entire company arrested on charges of obscenity when it played on Broadway in 1923. Rebecca Taichman’s Broadway production, featuring a live klezmer band, won two 2017 Tony Awards, and Taichman also directs this London premiere. —K.F.
