The theme here is literature, but it has nothing to do with books. “Image Narratives” presents the work of six Japanese contemporary artists—including Keizo Kitajima and Yuichiro Tamura—who create art that contains literary elements such as suggestion, suspense, magic, and mystery. Whole stories are conveyed through imagery and context. It is up to us to read them. —J.V.
