Huang Rui: Wild Children

Sept 26 – Nov 14, 2019
31, 33 St George St, Mayfair, London W1S 2FL, United Kingdom

The title of Huang Rui’s exhibition—”Wild Children”—is affectionate. It refers to a body of work that spans four decades and comes together like far-flung offspring. Having worked with paint and the printed word, and in collage, photography, and performance, Huang is one of China’s contemporary art pioneers. During the years of Mao, he was a radical rebel. Huang left China for Japan in 1984, but in 2001 returned to Beijing, where he now lives and works. —E.C.
