Based on The Sleeping Beauty, the musical Hex is a high-octane, neon-glow adaptation of Charles Perrault’s 1697 fairy tale. Written by Tanya Ronder, with lyrics by Rufus Norris, this version follows roughly the same plot: a forest fairy (named Fairy and played by Lisa Lambe) puts a hex on Rose (played by Rosie Graham) that makes her sleep for a century. In this show, though, instead of a prince’s kiss awakening Rose, a half-ogre is the savior. Fairy must somehow sort the whole thing out. The effect-heavy production includes dry ice and aerial work. —Jensen Davis
