A program in which Glasper, on whose nimbus of jazz and hip-hop critics and audiences delight to float, is bumped to small type must be a potent program indeed. Here he defers to Washington’s cosmically (and only rarely comically) ambitious reimagining of 70s spiritual jazz, and to Hancock’s retrospective of his heroically funky career, without which his marquee-mates would have far fewer rockets in their quiver. A peek at Hancock’s forthcoming album is promised, too. —E.E.
