Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists

June 2 – Aug 18, 2019
2400 3rd Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55404, USA

This year, Tommy Orange placed the plight of Native Americans front and center with his heartbreaking novel, There There. On a similar note, the first major exhibition of art by Native women includes 115 artists from the U.S. and Canada, and spans 1,000 years of under-appreciated creations—from paintings and photographs to a pair of Christian Louboutin heels decorated in “native couture” by artist Jamie Okuma. —J.V.
