The British artist Grayson Perry, winner of the Turner Prize in 2003, calls himself the “transvestite potter.” In fact, he is a cross-dresser who has invented a female alter-ego: Claire. Together, Grayson and Claire critique British culture, society, and style through ceramic vessels, tapestries, and paintings in explosive color. The Royal Scottish Academy presents the largest-ever exhibition of Perry’s work. —Elena Clavarino
