A city that continues to define and expand the scope of contemporary art, New York makes a great setting for Frieze, the leading international art fair. For its 15th edition at the Shed, in Hudson Yards, there’s an emphasis on Latin American art, thanks to the new gallery committee members Fátima González of Campeche and Omayra Alvarado of Instituto de Visión. “Focus,” the initiative supporting emerging gallerists, brings together presentations from Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and São Paulo. Over 65 other galleries round out Frieze’s full programming, embodying New York City’s standing as a point of cultural exchange. Highlights include leading galleries like Gagosian and Thaddaeus Ropac, while others, such as Almine Rech and Galerie Eva Presenhuber, return from a brief hiatus. —Maggie Turner
