Anthony Trollope’s 1875 novel The Way We Live Now was a savage portrait of money, ambition, and moral collapse in the Industrial Age—a book that felt, when it was published, almost too current to be fiction. The George Economou Collection, in Athens, has taken that title for a group exhibition drawn from its own holdings and co-curated by Hilton Als and Ann Philbin. In three sections—“Intimacy,” “Politics,” and “Being”—the show travels through the current moment. Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Louise Bourgeois, David Hammons, Jenny Saville, Henry Taylor, Lorna Simpson, Charles Ray, and David Hockney are among the 18 artists on view. —Elena Clavarino
