Epic Iran

May 29 – Sept 12, 2021
Cromwell Rd, Knightsbridge, London SW7 2RL, UK

Look up Iran and you will find a history that rises and falls in kingdoms and empires. Located just east of Iraq, this country—also called Persia, as well as the Islamic Republic of Iran—is one of the world’s oldest and greatest civilizations. With 350 objects dating back to 3200 B.C., the V&A exhibition “Epic Iran” is the largest U.K. exhibition on Iranian art, design, and culture in 100 years. The exhibition is “immersive”—it is set up as a city with all the relevant architecture—and divided into 10 sections, each with its own atmosphere. From the miniature to the majestic, Iran, as it sings in its national anthem, is “enduring, continuing, and eternal.” —L.J.
