“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” These immortal words, spoken by Winston Churchill on August 20, 1940, refer to the flyers of the Royal Air Force (RAF) and their bravery during the Battle of Britain. The RAF’s centenary celebration culminates at Duxford with a weekend dedicated to those W.W. II superheroes. On the ground: re-enactors, music, and dance. Up above: dogfights, aerobatics, and the Spitfire flypast finale. —E.C.
