“I see life as a passageway, with no fixed beginning or destination,” the Korean artist Do Ho Suh said in 2017. “We tend to focus on the destination all the time and forget about the in-between spaces.” Suh recreates those transitory spaces, places he once called home—or spaces within the home—cladding fine steel frames with transparent polyester to create ghost houses in a single bright color. This exhibition presents his “Specimen” series, replicas of domestic hardware—light switches, door handles, sockets—which Suh has attentively measured and remodeled. The premise? “Our relationship with quotidian objects,” he explains, “has become fraught, but we’ve also become intensely familiarized with those forms and spaces.” The show is at Lehmann Maupin’s new seasonal exhibition space in Palm Beach. —E.C.
