The personal belongings of the renowned American filmmaker David Lynch, who died last January, will be at auction on June 18. A distinguished and stimulating artist, Lynch was as adept at painting and woodworking as he was at music recording and filmmaking. He did it all. Well, as long as he had a good cup of coffee nearby. Lynch created Twin Peaks, directed and wrote Eraserhead (1977) and followed it up with The Elephant Man (1980), which he also directed and helped write. Almost 450 items are in the sale: trinkets from his movie and television sets, instruments from his recording studio, art supplies and tools from his wood shop and art room, a large selection of furniture (much of which he made himself), and numerous coffee machines and coffee cups. Some highlights are a customized director’s chair (estimate $30,000), a red curtain and zig-zag rug combo in the style of Black Lodge from Twin Peaks (estimate $17,500), and a large photo of a nuclear explosion screen-matched to the seventh episode of Twin Peaks: The Return (estimate $15,000). —Henry McGrath
