Is there a more lovable buffoon on television than the hapless, charming dunderhead Michael Scott? A pioneer of the mockumentary sitcom format, The Office is the original workplace satire that successfully mined truth and beauty in everyday tedium. No surprise the show’s legacy (and viewership) balloons each year. And yes, the show lost its way after Steve Carell’s Season Seven departure. He was the centerpiece of the humor and drudgery that viewers found solace in. After all, there’s some Michael Scott inside all of us. That’s what she said. —Bill Keenan
