In 1977, a team at NASA produced a gold-plated phonograph record. Containing ethereal sounds and images of life on Earth, it was meant as an introduction should extraterrestrials find it—a poetic primer on our planet. Called the “Golden Record,” it now resides aboard the twin Voyager One and Two spacecrafts, which are somewhere around the sun’s outer orbit. For many years, the multidisciplinary artist Dario Robleto has been enthralled by the idea of the Golden Record. This exhibition in Fort Worth revolves around his recent commission, Ancient Beacons Long for Notice, a 60-minute film based on the first audio recording of warfare (which NASA had considered for inclusion on the Golden Record). Robleto’s sculptures and works on paper are included in the show. —Elena Clavarino
