Cyndi Lauper: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

No one has ever mastered the hair game quite like Cyndi Lauper. Back in the 1980s—when the singer was at the height of her career with classics like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “True Colors,” and “Time After Time”—even those who didn’t turn on their radios recognized her teased hair dyed in pinks, oranges, reds, and yellows. Lauper has been nominated for 15 Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and 18 MTV Awards, winning several in each category. She’s also been an advocate for women’s and L.G.B.T.Q rights, using her platform to speak out on topics like AIDS and abortion rights since. Now, she’s embarking on her farewell tour, celebrating her career with concerts across Europe, the U.K., Australia, and Japan. —Jeanne Malle
