“I don’t like dreams or reality,” the French couturier Jean Paul Gaultier has said. “I like when dreams become reality because that is my life.” Not surprisingly, Gaultier has long been interested in the relationship between fashion and cinema. As a young boy, he was entranced by the fabulous images and outfits on the big screen, which got him dreaming. Over 50 years later, he still goes to the movies at least twice a week. Not only did Gaultier’s dreams come true, he has designed clothes for films by Jean-Luc Godard, Pedro Almodóvar, and Peter Greenaway. Here, curated by the man himself, an exhibition on film, fashion, and Jean Paul Gaultier. —Elena Clavarino
