Everybody loves Carl Orff’s scenic cantata, Carmina Burana, which focuses on Dionysian pleasures, though its words were written by Medieval monks. Perhaps in penance, two churchy pieces round out this program: J. Higdon’s blue cathedral and Francis Poulenc’s Litanies à la Vierge Noire. —L.J.
