A library stocked only with films starring Marlon Brando could engage a cinephile for weeks. A Streetcar Named Desire? On the Waterfront? The Godfather? Apocalypse Now? Whether it was due to his devotion to method acting, his brooding boyishness early in life, or the imposing figure he cut later on, it’s a simple fact that when Brando was on-screen sparks would soon fly. The actor died in 2004, at 80. In honor of his 100th birthday, Film Forum is bringing that Brando-filled library to life. “Brando 100” features his greatest hits: all the aforementioned films, plus Julius Caesar, The Freshman, Guys and Dolls, and more. —Jack Sullivan
