The show is small—approximately 25 objects—but the vision is large. “Born Too Tall” looks at 14 female designers who reimagined object making, while also sharing a key source of inspiration—their home state of California. Surrounded by stunning natural landscapes and inspired by technological innovation, these women made design history in the mediums of ceramics, glass, wood, fiber, and metal. As Ray Eames, one of the 14 artists in the exhibition, once said, “Choose your corner, pick away at it carefully, intensely, and to the best of your ability and that way you might change the world.” —Clara Molot
