Barkow Leibinger: Revolutions of Choice

July 18 – Oct 4, 2020
Argentinische Allee 30, 14163 Berlin, Germany

Frank Barkow and Regine Leibinger have been studio partners since 1993. Their specialty? A research-based approach to architecture, and a keen interest in material and technical innovation. “We’re constantly searching,” says Frank Barkow, “searching for new ideas, new materials, new tools, and how to use that for transforming architectural ideas into reality.” In this show, hundreds of their studies and architectural models are on display. The cherry on top is a reinterpretation of Summer House, the ingenious and curvaceously in-the-round pavilion they built for London’s Serpentine Gallery in 2016. Placed in the sculpture garden, made this time in metal, it reflects and complements the greenery that surrounds it. —E.C.
