In 2007, the New York-based artist Anne Collier began going through photography manuals, advertisements, comic books, and film stills in search of female eyes. In 2010, she switched to teary female eyes. “Collier’s photographs of vintage books, album covers, posters and other ephemera,” Karen Rosenberg wrote in The New York Times, “look studiously detached at first. But after some time they reveal themselves as sensitive and involved responses to an earlier generation’s visual culture.” This exhibition, which examines Collier’s interest in looking and being looked at, is the artist’s first monographic display in Ireland. —Elena Clavarino
