“Artists don’t make objects,” the superstar sculptor Anish Kapoor said in 2008. “Artists make mythologies, and it’s through the mythologies that we read the object.” La Commanderie de Peyrassol—a winery with 950 hectares of space in the Provence region—considers contemporary art to be a part of its own mythology. Its permanent collection includes works by Daniel Buren, Jean Dubuffet, and Bertrand Lavier. For this solo show, Kapoor brings some of his own work to the Commanderie’s monumental sculpture park, uniquely set among its vineyards and woodlands. —E.C.
