Albrecht Dürer: The Age of Reformation and Renaissance

Nov 6, 2020 – Feb 7, 2021
919 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203, United States

“Already by the time he was thirty years old,” says Frist Art Museum curator Trinita Kennedy, “Dürer had become the most famous artist in Europe, which is especially notable because he was a contemporary of Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael.” Dürer’s gifts as a printmaker were no small part of his prominence, for his prints were produced in multiples and brought far-reaching name recognition. The Frist exhibition looks at 100 engravings, etchings, and woodcuts from Dürer’s entire career, presented chronologically. —L.J.
