In 1997, when the American businessman and collector Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson, Jr. donated an estimated 80,000 objects to Florida International University, a new museum was created: the Wolfsonian Museum-FIU. An exhibition of 100 pieces from Wolfson’s collection—mostly dating from Europe’s Industrial Revolution through the Second World War, with a stress on modern-age design—celebrates the museum’s founder. —J.V.
