Zhanna Kadyrova, who lives in Kiev, sees historical parallels between Revolutionary Cuba and the Soviet Ukraine, but finds Cuba, and particularly the city of Havana, bright and shining with diverse narratives. Seeking to place the work of this exhibition within context, Kadyrova collected the colorful tiles that clothe buildings in Havana and made art dresses with them, as well as other festive objects.
