“In 2021, 2.8 billion people—almost a third of the world’s population—played video games,” says Hans Ulrich Obrist, “making a niche pastime into the biggest mass phenomenon of our time.” Video games have evolved to become an creative platform with which artists can engage. For this exhibition, Obrist has brought together a diverse range of artists who’ve found inspiration in the colors, figures, and imaginative realms of these games. Creatives such as Peggy Ahwesh, Lawrence Lek, and Lual Mayen explore the aesthetics of technology at the Julia Stoschek Foundation. —Thalia Bonas
