While Salvatore Ferragamo ran the eponymous shoe line he founded in 1927, his wife, Wanda Miletti, tended to their six children. When Ferragamo died in 1960, at 62, Miletti was suddenly thrust from a traditional domestic role to the top position of a luxury brand. She helped the business expand from just shoes to clothing and accessories, and turned the Florence-based company into an international fashion house. Miletti was at the helm of Ferragamo for nearly six decades, until her death in 2018, when she was 96. An exhibition at Museo Salvatore Ferragamo pays homage to the brand’s pioneering matriarch. Archival photos and vintage designs are on view. —Jensen Davis
