There isn’t a “typical” Wolfgang Tillmans image, though you could say there’s a Tillmans tone. Since the beginning of his career, in 1988, he’s been shooting snapshot-like portraits of friends, casual landscapes, even the objects on his kitchen table. As he recently told Office magazine, he aims to “represent [things and people] in a way that doesn’t bend them into something they are not.” This exhibition features new work: photographs that range from intimate portraits and industrial scenes to camera-less abstractions, landscapes, and photocopied compositions. All explore the fragile connections between people, technology, and the physical world. —Elena Clavarino
